Employee Spotlight: Emily H.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch is proud to have assembled a team of talented and adventurous individuals who give our guests the experience of true Western hospitality at its finest.

Our Employee Spotlight series highlights members of our Ranch family so you can get to know our team that makes a stay at Devil’s Thumb Ranch so special. This week, we connected with Emily Hust.

Emily H.

Hometown:  Mississippi
Nickname: Em
Role: Guest Services Associate
Tenure: 3 months

What attracted you to Devil’s Thumb Ranch?

I was working for the United States Department of Agriculture in an administrative role in Mississippi before coming to the Ranch. I was interested in doing something other than office work when I Googled “cool places to work” and found Devil’s Thumb!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an actress or comedian. I love being myself around others and having a good time. At the Ranch, I get to be bubbly and welcoming to every guest that walks through the door.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I work at the front desk to welcome guests so my location may not change throughout the day, but no day looks the same when you are interacting with guests. There’s such a variety of people that come to stay and we work hard to help them with any requests or questions they might have.

What is your favorite memory of working at the Ranch so far?

Winning the Women’s Keg Toss event at Tommelfest this year. What can I say, I have talent.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I love interacting with guests. People arrive from so many different places to enjoy the Ranch and it’s always fun to get to know them. Welcoming kids may be my favorite. The little ones are ready to explore and have a good time!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I like to hike around the Ranch and hang out with my coworkers. There is such a mix of people that work for the Ranch because we come from all over the United States and the world!

Thanks, Em, for chatting with us! Stick around for more Employee Spotlights in the coming weeks!
