Say Howdy to Our Neeeighbors at the Stables

Horseback Riding in the Colorado Mountains

Winston Churchill once said, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a person”. We believe our four-legged team members work hard in helping our guests experience something truly special and memorable. At Cabin Creek Stables, you can make the acquaintance of several equine characters who are filled with big spirits and large personalities:

Horseback Riding in ColoradoOne such character is Armani, a 10-year-old gelding, Percheron/quarter horse who came to us from a working dairy farm in Pennsylvania. Armani likes a bit of mischief and daily distractions of ANY type of food.

Armani’s counterpart Prada, a 15-year-old mare Percheron/quarter horse cross, originally hailing from a kid’s camp in Utah, now attends many of our on-site weddings, is a beauty to behold, and is always looking for tasty sweet carrot treats from one of our wranglers.

There’s also Navi, our 23-year-old mare Percheron/quarter horse cross, who arrived at the Ranch from a local outfitting business. Navi now serves as one of our veteran trail riding horses and is a kind and sensitive old soul.

Colorado Mountain Horseback RidingAnd what’s that sound? Boom! It’s Thunder! Our 18-year-old Percheron/draft horse has a hard work ethic stemming from his roots in Missouri. Thunder now serves the Ranch as a dedicated pulling horse who also helps train and settle in our other horses.

Finally, in an ode to Star Wars, our stables don’t just house the “big boys and girls”, but are also home to our miniature horses like Princess Leia, a 6-year-old mare, and Han Solo, an 8-year-old gelding. Both have personalities that are “out of this world” and can often be seen visiting with our guests at special occasions like helping to deliver drinks at weddings or making appearances at Heck’s Patio for summer evening sunsets.

To formally meet some of our Stables Family or schedule a ride, please contact Cabin Creek Stables by calling (970) 726-3777 or by emailing stables@devilsthumbranch.com.

Happy trails, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
